This quote brings Venice very much to the point. Venice, tourist magnet, which fills this beautiful city almost daily to bursting. Everyone wants to be there – in the city of Casanova and Vivaldi but only a few can really experience it. Many day trips are offered to Venice and in the end you will have seen: Piazza San Marco, a »local« tourist Restaurant and a Murano glass factory. Followed by a gondola ride with five other tourists – that's it. I know what I am talking about. With the ship »Prince of Venice« I made a daytrip to Venice for several times. But if you really want to see and feel the spirit of Venice you have to explore it on your own. And so I did in 2012 and I came back with the love of my life in 2015.
We have spent one week in the city of love and discovered our own real venice with a book about venecian ghost stories. The only advice I can give you, if you are interested in visiting Venice take your time. Venice is much more than the Piazza San Marco and especially in the evening when the crowds have left the city unfolds its special charm. But if you consider visiting the Calle de la Cavallerizza at night I have a friendly advise: Be careful and do not call out the three dogals Marin Faliero (1355), Enrico Dandolo (1204) and Tommaso Mocenigo (1423) too loud — they may give you an answer...
